Ten Days to Go

Hello all,

Mike and Tyler here writing you after returning from a great training ride this morning that took us from campus out to Montville, down to Nyantic and back to Conn. It was a beautiful 30+ mile ride on a beautiful sunny morning. If you want, you can check out our loop here.

Today's ride was our fourth or fifth solid training ride and we are already beginning to feel more comfortable climbing hills and have shaved off some of our time. We've been lucky to have such wonderful weather the last couple weeks (aside form that crazy hurricane that dampened things up for a day or two) and we've taken advantage of the season by biking to several farmstands for a quick break with a delicious peach.

Our fundraising efforts are coming along great! We've almost reached our goal of 5000 dollars with a couple of recent generous donations. However, we could always use some extra support (and so could our environment) so if you know anyone who might be interested in giving, tell them a little about who we are, our ride, and you can direct them to this website. This is our team donation site where you can give easily to support both Tyler and Mike.

We've also recently ordered our Jerseys and Shorts, clad with the business and sponsor logos. When we receive them, we will take a picture of us riding/chillin decked out in our Climateride gear and post them here for all to see.

The First Post

Hey everyone. And thank you for supporting Tyler and Mike in our pre-trip preparations. If you have received this link, you have in some way supported our ride, and we are indebted to you.  

This September 20, Mike and Tyler will be departing from New York City on a 320 mile bike ride ending up in Washington, DC to raise money and awareness about the effort to fight Climate Change. The 2008 Climate Ride will host 120 riders who will be fundraising to support beneficiary NGO's Clean Air/Cool Planet and Focus the Nation in their efforts to lobby in DC for more climate and environmentally aware energy policy.

On this blog, we'll post updates about training rides we've done, as well as give you a play-by-play (where wireless provides) of our trip beginning September 19th. We'll also throw in pictures of us on the trip after we return.
